Bentonville (Ark.) 247Composite 5-star combo guard Malik Monk has narrowed his long list of schools to six. He announced on The Raw Report he was down to Oregon, Kansas, Kentucky, Arkansas, North Carolina and Florida State. Earlier, CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein reported Monk will visit Oregon on Sept. 19, Kansas Oct. 9, Kentucky Oct. 16 and Arkansas Oct. 24.
He is still in process of setting up trips to North Carolina and Florida State. "It's a weight lifted off my shoulders," Monk said of narrowing the list. "The next time I list a school it will be the one I will sign with."
Monk averaged 21.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and six assists per game as a junior while leading the Tigers to a state runner-up finish in Arkansas' largest classification. Monk talked about when he will make a final decision and also addressed rumors it was basically an Arkansas-Kentucky two-school race.
"I'm open to every school I named," Monk said. "I will make my decision when I get comfortable with the coaches after my official visits."
Some have said Monk wants to see who is in the Class of 2016 with him before he chooses a school.
"It really doesn't matter to me who comes in my class," Monk said. "There will be good players at each school. I just want to be comfortable with the coach. When I get to college I just want to get better every day."
