The Bentonville and Rogers game has been a rivalry game that has been overlooked in recent years. The 2016 season has the two teams with identical 5-2 records and are looking to position themselves for a playoff spot. Bentonville is coming off an impressive victory over the Springdale Bulldogs, shutting them out 38-0. The Rogers Mounties are coming off an impressive defensive performance against Van Buren winning the game 26-7.

The Mounties have been the surprise team of the 2016 season in the 7-A West. Rogers bounced back from a loss to Fayetteville to pick up a big win against the Van Buren Pointers. The Mounties are going to need running back Jeb Brain and quarterback Max Horton to keep the offense on track and find a way to produce the big play. Brain scored two touchdowns last week against Van Buren and is looking to find the end zone again this week.

Bentonville fans should keep an eye on wide receiver Kam’Ron Mays-Hunt this week as he looks to have his second big game in a row. Mays-Hunt had an excellent performance against the Springdale Bulldogs last week and is looking to continue his solid play against the Mounties. Canaan Ross has played well in recent weeks and is looking to target Mays-Hunt this week in an attempt to open the Tigers passing game up. The Bentonville offense got off to a slow start last week, stalling out in the second quarter, and is looking to avoid similar problems this week.

In years past, the Rogers-Bentonville game has not been that competitive of a ball game. The 2016 version should be different. Rogers is a strong football team who will likely pull some upsets in the playoffs. Bentonville is strong once again this season and has been impressive this season. This game has the potential to go deep into the fourth quarter before a winner emerges. Fans should look for a very good football game Friday night between Bentonville and Rogers.
