SPRINGDALE – Bentonville struggled to move the ball in the first half against an energized Springdale defense. The Tigers, though, carried a 10-0 lead into the half.

And after the break, it was all Bentonville, scoring 21 in the third to run away from the Red’Dogs and hand them their third consecutive loss. WR Kam’Ron Mays-Hunt led the Tigers with eight catches for 86 yards and a touchdown in the third quarter to pull Bentonville’s offense out of a funk.

Running backs Jacob Clark and Easton Miller handled it the rest of the way, rushing for four scores and totaling 152 yards on the ground.

Safety Aaron Estrada was Bentonville’s defensive star, picking off a pair of Layne Hutchins passes in the win. The Tigers also picked off Springdale backup Will Mueller late in the game.

Springdale was able to find a bit of success through the air early, but turnovers and penalties putting the offense in unfavorable down-and-distances did the offense in. Bentonville also stuffed the Red’Dogs run game – 35 yards on 26 carries.

Defensive end Isaiah Nichols was active for Springdale, batting away a pass and hurrying the quarterback a number of times in the second quarter.

Springdale next travels to Van Buren and Bentonville will host Rogers High next week.
