Bentonville High Tigers hit road for first time.

Bentonville has enjoyed its first games at Tiger Stadium this season, but now it’s time for the Tigers to hit the road.

The first of two road games take place Friday night when Bentonville travels to Conway for its first regular-season nonconference game against an in-state opponent since the 2011 season opener at North Little Rock.

“The opportunity presented itself with Conway this year,” coach Jody Grant said. “Conway has been a real good program and well coached, and I thought it would be a good matchup for us before going into conference play.

“We’re looking forward to it. I think our kids travel real well and play well on the road. It will be an opportunity for some of our younger kids to see the process of traveling with us, and I expect our kids to do it well.”

Conway (0-2) has lost both of its games by a combined total of 10 points. The Wampus Cats feature senior Marquise Pleasant, who had 358 all-purpose yards (151 rushing, 207 kickoff returns) and two touchdowns last week.

“They could easily be 2-0,” Grant said. “I’ve seen the films, and the teams they have played are quality football teams. They’ve had two tough games, and I’m sure they are hungry and getting after it this week.”
