Bentonville’s basketball teams resume 7A-West Conference play Tuesday night with games against Fort Smith Northside.
It will likely be Bentonville’s last trip to Grizzly-Kaundart Fieldhouse as a conference opponent. The two Fort Smith schools will head to the 7A-Central next year, and in their place will be Bentonville West and Van Buren.

Bentonville’s girls enter the contest with a 12-1 mark and a 1-0 record in league play following Thursday’s 67-38 victory at home over Fort Smith Southside. The Lady Tigers fell behind 4-0 early but proceeded to take a 24-6 first-quarter lead and led by as much as 37 points at one time.
Junior Krista Clark came off the bench and scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the first quarter to help Bentonville take early control. Senior Madison Brittain turned it into a one-two punch when she scored 14 of her 16 points in the second quarter, while Alexia Hernandez and Lauren Hargus added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Bentonville’s boys enter their game with Northside having lost their last two games and four of their last five. The Tigers (7-5, 0-1) opened conference play Thursday with a 58-57 loss to Southside, thanks to a last-second shot, then traveled Saturday to Arlington, Tenn., and suffered a loss to Memphis East in the Penny Hardaway National Hoopfest.

Malik Monk sat out of the Southside game with a number of injuries, but returned for a 27-point, 8-rebound performance against Memphis East, which took over the game in the third quarter with the help from several Bentonville turnovers. Tyler Robinson was solid in both games, scoring 22 — all in the second half — against Southside and 20 against Memphis East.

Bentonville then returns home Friday night for a pair of games against Springdale Har-Ber. It will also be Colors Day in Tiger Arena, with the ceremony to take place during halftime of the boys game.
