BENTONVILLE — It only took 16 seconds to see that Bentonville’s football team was not about to overlook Rogers Heritage and think about next week’s game at Fayetteville.

That’s how long it took the Tigers to get on the scoreboard Friday night. Kam’Ron Mays-Hunt set things up with a 41-yard kickoff return, then he caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Kasey Ford on the first play.

“That’s what we talked about,” Bentonville coach Jody Grant said. “Just go out and be Bentonville Tiger football and take care of business. Our kids did that.
“That was our focus this week. Let’s take care of this one, and now we can watch the film, bury this game and start looking at Fayetteville.”
It was just the beginning for Bentonville, which already had 21 points in eight minutes and rolled to a 49-6 victory over winless Heritage at Tiger Stadium. Ford threw another touchdown pass, a 3-yarder to Chase Hunter, later in the first quarter and added two touchdown runs in the second quarter en route to an early 35-0 lead.

Player of the Game: Ford, who was 11 of 15 passing for 182 yards and two touchdowns and added two rushing touchdowns in his final regular-season home game.
Play of the Game: Ford had ample time on Bentonville’s first offensive play and fired a perfect pass to Mays-Hunt down the far sideline for the Tigers’ quick touchdown.

Notable: Reserve linebacker Wade Richey became the third Bentonville defensive player to score this season when he returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown. … Tyler Johnson took over at starting tight end for Dax Hale, who suffered a leg injury in practice. … Grant and his wife Kristin became the proud parents of Tate Maddox Grant, a 9-pound, 9-ounce boy born Thursday. … The Tigers enjoyed their second consecutive game with no turnovers.

Up Next: Bentonville travels to Harmon Field for a key game against Fayetteville. The winner earns the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye, while the loser takes the No. 3 seed and plays a first-round playoff game at home.
